As Petruccio in The Taming of the Shrew, with a worn-out Kate (Amanda Harris) RSC Stratford, 1992. And in rehearsals for the same production. And just a few more, again, so that you can absorb the full impact of that hat.

4, 6: PJ, from Parsons, Keith and Pamela Mason. eds. Shakespeare in Performance, 1995
8. From the Ellie Archives.

The Merry Wives of Windsor - Anton Lesser (Ford), Benjamin Withrow (Falstaff); RST, Stratford-upon-Avon, 27 August 1992.1992 was a good year for hats, as you can see - John Nettles (Page), Anton Lesser (Ford); I like these last two - very Brueghel (if he'd been into linen baskets at all). These are all from the invaluable Sina Archive.

A dangerous Stanley in The Birthday Party, here with Bob Peck and Nicholas Woodeson, Lyttelton. PJ, from Theatre Record 12- 25 March 1994: 301.

Rover in Wild Oats, Lyttelton (RNT), 1995, here with the lovely Miss Woodward. Plays and Players, October 1995: 15; with doofus Harry Thunder (Alan Cox) in Wild Oats. Theatre Record, 2 October 1995: 1203. And a nice one from Corbis. All harvested by the indefatigable PJ.

Thank you, Marie! As Serge in the second cast of Art: monied doofus with problem friends and a very interesting painting.

As Shakespeare (kind of) in Mutabilite, Cottesloe November 1997. PJ, Theatre Record 19 November - 2 December 1997.

The 1999 production of Private Lives at the National Theatre. Juliet Stevenson still wondering about the lipstick - never mind the quality, feel the width . Apparently there's some actual dialogue in this play as well.

1: Linda Green - the very first one! From The Observer.
